About the übüfamily
The übüfamily is an artistic initiative by Father Ubu (Franz Blauensteiner) and Mother Ubu (Rezka Kanzian).
The foundation of our work is the workshop theater (Werkraumtheater). Long before encountering Jarry’s work, we were active as real-world performers on stage. Performing the roles of Father and Mother Ubu gradually led to adopting these artistic personas as our permanent identities. We create readings with music as well as short video films. In doing so, we bridge physical workshop theater with digital media, stepping toward the creation of digital avatars within our digital Ubu world.

Real Performers & Founders
Father Ubu (Franz Blauensteiner): Co-founder of the Workshop Theater (Werkraumtheater) and motor of the transformation into the übüfamily. Playwright, director, performer, and producer.
Mother Ubu (Rezka Kanzian): Co-founder of the Workshop Theater (Werkraumtheater) and artistic core of the übüfamily. Co-creator, director, character performer, and producer.
(Note: In the spirit of independent theater practice, work encompasses all aspects of stage, text, direction, and production without rigid specialization. A complete archive of former collaborators and ensemble members is preserved on our main platform.)
